PGH DSA PAC Phonebank for Carl & Sam
PGH DSA PAC Phonebank for Carl & Sam
2023-11-01 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
https://actionnetwork.org/events/make-calls-for-independents-for-collective-power-carl-redwood-sam-schmidt-for-allegheny-county-council-4
RSVP here: https://actionnetwork.org/events/make-calls-for-independents-for-collective-power-carl-redwood-sam-schmidt-for-allegheny-county-council-4
Ready to help elect our endorsed candidates, Carl Redwood and Sam Schmidt to Allegheny County Council?
Join us to help make calls to talk with voters about voting for Carl, Sam, and their vision of putting people over profits in Allegheny County!
If you’ve never phonebanked for a campaign before, don’t worry—our phonebanks always begin with a training. We’ll make sure you know what to do, and we'll be there to help if you have questions. This event is remote. We'll begin by meeting over Zoom for a training.
Carl and Sam are united in their belief that capitalism is the problem, and socialism is the solution. They believe the crises Allegheny County faces – housing, food access, union busting, pollution, and climate change — are caused by a system where our right to basic needs for survival is violated if we can’t afford them — and where our County prioritizes those who run corporations, or profit from them.
Together the campaigns present an incredible opportunity in county politics to take a big step toward reprioritizing our government around socialist principles, and when we’re able to talk with people about them, voters overwhelmingly are excited to support Carl and Sam. The only question is whether enough people will know they have the opportunity to choose Carl and Sam in the November 7th Election.
Will you join us to talk with voters on our phonebank?
RSVP to let us know if you can make it and get dial-in info!

Jenin, Jenin Movie Screening
2023-11-11 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
https://actionnetwork.org/events/jenin-jenin-movie-screening?source=direct_link&
Hello! Come see a screening of the movie Jenin, Jenin , directed by Mohamad Bakri. It follows the near immediate aftermath of a Palestinian town bombed and invaded by Israeli troops in 2002. Although it happened so many years ago, the messages of its people and the film are as true today as they were then. To help the Palestinian people as they stand now, there will be suggested donations collected at the event, as well as an online donation link in the next screen. It will be going to Pious Projects, a local team in Gaza doing direct material assistance to combat the horrific effects of the complete siege. They take no admin fee from the donations. A brief, informal discussion will be held after the movie to reflect on its content.

2023-11-17 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
https://actionnetwork.org/events/discussion-group-meeting-1-2?source=direct_link&
This is the first meeting of the Discussion Group. Generally, we take two shorter socialist works(usually an article) that have differing views on the same topic. We then compare and contrast these works and determine the relevancy of each to the chapter's current issues. Our first two works are Socialism Is Not Charity: Why we are against mutual aid by Black Flag Sydney and Reclaiming Power: Mutual Aid in the United States by Daniel Parker. We have a zoom option and an in-person option now. Please take a look at this document for more information, as well as links to the works:
