We will be having an Intro to DSA! This session will only be on Zoom.

Who should attend?

*People who recently joined
*People who joined awhile ago but haven't been involved lately
*People who are interested in joining or being involved with DSA/socialism

What will we do at this session?

*Discuss how DSA functions in Pittsburgh
*Explain how to get involved
*Discuss what socialism means to us
*Meet one another and socialize as socialists!

The business contents last about an hour but you are welcome to stay after 8pm to chat and ask questions.

Join DSA members coming out for the Not on Our Dime campaign, a ballot question campaign we have endorsed to fight for Palestinian liberation in Pittsburgh by divesting the city from Israel.

Join DSA members outside 5002 Penn Ave at 11AM. If you've never canvassed before, you can join a short training inside the tea bar before heading out to try your hand at canvassing. If you're a pro, you're welcome to canvass a nearby farmer's market or busy street corners.

We'll meet back up at 2PM and DSA members (and allies) are invited to grab coffee or food nearby and socialize!

Note: This is just one of many opportunities to gather signatures for this ballot question, and we encourage DSA members to attend any canvassing events they are able to. We'd love to see you at this event, but don't worry if you can't make it, there are opportunities every day all across the city to help this important campaign!

The Pittsburgh Tenant Organizing Committee (PTOC) is program to build an outward-facing tenant unionization effort. We're organizing an ETOC cohort here in Pittsburgh to build tenant unions and leverage our working class power in everyday struggles against landlords, developers and other real estate capitalists. Join DSA members outside the Chipotle in Market Square at 1PM. We'll do a brief training about how to gather signatures and then try move around downtown in pairs, talking to people at the Ice Rink, Dog Park, and some of the busy shopping streets nearby.

We'll meet back up at 4PM in Market square and we'll grab a drink (including non-alcoholic options) nearby. Put the socializing in socialism!

We will also be discussing our upcoming reading groups, a film screening for February, and our "Intro to Socialism" session, among other things (time permitting). Anyone who has in interest in Political Education should attend this meeting.

Join us to drink coffee and discuss the first six chapters of Ursula K. Le Guin's The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia, a highly regarded work of anarchist science fiction cataloguing a scientist's attempts to unite his home moon of Anarres, an anarchist utopia, with the planet of Urras, a world much more similar to our own. The discussion itself may only take an hour or so, and the rest of the may be spent as an informal social. Our library may or may not have copies of the book available at the event itself, but talk to us and we may be able to provide you with something before the event.

Come join us to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. by reading his famous "Letter From A Birmingham Jail"! Originally written in 1963 while being imprisoned for a Good Friday Demonstration, it served as a response to open letter by Christian and Jewish faith leaders, who labeled King as an outside agitator and criticized his methods of direct action. The letter thus serves as a defense of nonviolent direct action that still manages to hold weight to this very day.

Join us for the first meeting of 2025 for PGH DSA Elections and Pressure Campaigns Committee! We'll discuss our plans for 2025, including supporting our newest campaign, Not on Our Dime, and also hear updates from the Pittsburgh DSA PAC.

Welcome to the first session of our group! We will be discussing the first chapter of Abolish Rent, by Tracy Rosenthal and Leonardo Vilchis. Join us as two cofounders of the largest tenant union in the country explore how the housing market works to immiserate  tenants, and how working class people can collectively organize to resist these forces. In our library, we have five copies of the book available for borrowing. There will also be a zoom option for those who cannot otherwise make it.
