In early August, Pittsburgh DSA sent twelve delegates (and one alternate) to the National DSA Convention in Chicago. At this meeting, our delegation will be giving a detailed report back about their experiences at the convention: what they heard, what they learned, and how they voted. There will also be time for members to ask our delegates questions about the convention.

Control of our own bodies is a fundamental human right which is frequently under attack by fascists. The Bodily Autonomy Committee strives to realize bodily autonomy for all individuals through reproductive freedom and freedom for individuals to choose how their bodies align to their genders.

This committee will meet the first Thursday of every month. Members and guests are both welcome to join our meetings and events!

Join us as Daeja kicks off her general election campaign with a canvass in Millvale! We'll be knocking doors in her neighborhood, then gathering at her place for a post-canvass social and debrief.

Join the labor committee as we read a new selection of articles each month in a topic concerning labor history, organizing, strategy, and tactics

Come meet up with community organizers in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Meet your active neighbors, make new friends, yell about politics(in good faith) and just plain have a great time.

Every year, our chapter gathers to reflect on our work, elect new leadership, and set a new direction for our work. In order to ensure we have enough time for a thorough debrief of our work, and all chapter business, we are going to be holding two meetings in September.

The first will give more space than usual for committees to share what work they have been doing, and debrief how well we have accomplished the priority work we set out to do last year.  We will discuss possible directions for future priorities, and the process by which we choose priorities, but we will not select new priorities in this meeting.


Annual Chapter Convention

This second meeting will function more officially as our Chapter convention, where we will debate bylaws amendments, elect new leadership, and continue the discussion begun in the first meeting.  We will set new priorities sometime after this meeting before year end.


HELP US PLAN THESE EVENTS: The Coordinating Committee is looking for members to join a local Convention Planning Committee to help shape the agendas and logistics for both of these meetings.  We'd encourage standing committees to send at least one member, and if you're interested in planning events or helping us pull off a great event, please let me know if you'd like to join the committee!  The Coordinating Committee will appoint members as they express interest. You can contact a CC member or post in #ask_coordinating if you'd like to help. We ask that all these volunteers be using our chapter Slack.
