Control of our own bodies is a fundamental human right which is frequently under attack by fascists. The Bodily Autonomy Committee strives to realize bodily autonomy for all individuals through reproductive freedom and freedom for individuals to choose how their bodies align to their genders.

This committee meets the first Thursday of every month. Members and guests are both welcome to join our meetings and events!

Pittsburgh DSA members will be gathering near the Starbucks to spread public awareness of the Starbucks Workers United contract negotiations, and ask members of the public to sign a pledge to stand with starbucks workers.

Join DSA members for a fun time talking to the public and supporting workers.

This is for the monthly Eco socialist and Mutual Aid Planning Meeting. In this meeting, we will be discussing: Ongoing Projects such as hot Meal Distro, Skill shares, etc. Mutual aid response to the Squirrel Hill fire and more. This will be Brendan and I’s first meeting as Co-Chairs and Dominika as Secretary.

Join the Communications Committee! The outgoing and incoming Communications Coordinators will co-lead this meeting which will mostly focus on creating a Chapter Priority Campaign proposal for a chapter communications platform (like a blog).

Pittsburgh DSA has endorsed this march and rally pressuring Howmet to stop creating materials used by Lockheed Martin in weapons manufacturing to support an ongoing genocide.

The rally will begin at the William F. Moorhead Federal Building (1000 Liberty Ave, 15222) and then march to the Howmet Aerospace Building (201 Isabella St.)

Pittsburgh DSA will be sending a speaker. We encourage DSA members to wear DSA swag or red clothing, keffiyehs, and to bring signs in support of peace, ceasefire, and Palestine.

The outgoing and incoming CC members will meet this evening to go over administrative things so that the chapter continues running well.

We will be in the Collaboration Room. 

CC members are expected to attend in person.

Each month, the labor committee meets to discuss articles concerning labor organizing tactics, strategy, theory, and history. Articles for October to be announced.

Overview: Preventing and undoing harm caused by police, the prison industrial complex, and the military industrial complex, both in the US and abroad
Education: Promoting discussion of Abolitionist and Anti-imperialist literature through discussion groups
Projects: Solidarity with Cuba, neighborhood defense organizing, campaigns for Palestine solidarity
Reviewing updates within the Pittsburgh abolition & anti-imperialism movement
Providing updates on upcoming events related to committee scope.

Pittsburgh DSA hosts a monthly happy hour for workers to gather, build bonds across workplaces, and talk about organizing. We will be meeting at East End Brewing in Larimer from 6-9pm. Bring a co-worker, invite your unionized friends and your yet-to-be-organized friends, and enjoy the solidarity!

Join us in making calls to voters to help elect Daeja Baker to the Shaler Area School Board in the November 7th election! Daeja is a social worker and tireless community organizer who will be a fierce advocate for the students who most need supported.

If you’ve never phonebanked for a campaign before, don’t worry — our phonebanks always begin with a training. We’ll make sure you know what to do, and we'll be there to help if you have questions.

Join us for our October General Meeting & Potluck! 

Potluck starts at 6pm at Community Forge (1256 Franklin Ave, Wilkinsburg)
Business starts at 7pm on Zoom and in person.

At this meeting we will be selecting one or two chapter priorities from a list of submissions. These projects will be the main things the chapter works on for 4 months until the next cycle when we re-approve the projects or select new ones.

We will also have a political education segment on how to talk about socialism/DSA in a quick way (like an elevator pitch). 

New members and non-members are welcome to attend these general meetings online and in person. Only members are able to vote on business.

Pittsburgh DSA has resolved to make supporting Starbucks worker a priority for the next four months.  We'll be calling members to invite them to an action this weekend.

You'll make calls from your home, with DSA members on zoom to help you do it.

We'll start at 5PM and go until 7PM.  You're welcome to join anytime, and call a little later if 5PM is too early for you.
